The Okarito Beach House is a real haven, away from the main tourist trail, situated within a stone's throw of dramatic West Coast beaches, close to the glacier township of Franz Josef.

We have a range of rooms available, from share rooms through to ensuite doubles and twins, and a private self contained chalet. During your stay WIFI internet and Bed and Breakfast is available.

Okarito itself is a small coastal community located off Highway 6, between Whataroa and Franz Josef glacier, in an area that is home to stunning scenery, fabulous sunsets, lush coastal forest and deserted beaches.

During your stay, you can kayak on the Okarito Lagoon, home to white herons (Kotuko) and paddle up estuarine rivers surrounded by rainforest. Single and double kayaks are available to rent locally.

Alternatively, there are several beautiful hikes in the region, such as up to the famous Okarito Trig, or along the beach to Three Mile Lagoon, then back through the rainforest.

Franz Josef glacier is only a short drive away, and we can help booking you on to guided hikes and heli-hikes on the glacier itself!
